You will find us on the A811 about 12 miles west of Stirling in Scotland. We are one of the smallest community council areas in Stirlingshire with a population of about 200.

We are surrounded by bigger neighbours and rely on them for village facilities such as local shops in Kippen and Buchlyvie. But we do have an agricultural garage (with fuel pumps), a nursery school and a well-known firm of furniture makers! Most of the land is farmland.

Our big asset is the great choice of views of the carse, the Highlands and the Gargunnock and Fintry hills. We are next door to the Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve and close to the east boundary of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park which includes the Lake of Menteith. Go to the Heritage page for more information.

There are one or two places to stay, in or close to Arnprior and there is plenty of choice in the wider area including the surrounding villages.

Arnprior gets its name from the Gaelic 'earrann' meaning a division of land and in this case the Prior of Inchmahome owned the land. Walter Comyn, the Earl of Menteith, founded the Priory in 1238 so the name could be that old. There are other ‘Arns’ in Arnprior and the surrounding area. Some indicate size (e.g. Arnmore) and others indicate previous owners (e.g. Arnfinlay).
