General amenity
We want our roads to be as safe as possible.  The last improvements carried out by Stirling Council (SC) included a new fixed speed sign at the west end of the village and a better standing area around the westbound bustop.
Recent improvements to the road markings through the village are helping.

We keep track of traffic flows on the A811 and occasionally we ask SC for the latest figures. The September 2006 data gave an average weekday 24 hour two-way flow of 7,100 vehicles per day.
Grass grows and some has to be cut regularly. SC cut the road verges outside the village by machine and particular grass areas in the village are strimmed and mown by hand. Bedding plants are added to the raised bed next to The Street every year. Residents planted loads of daffodil bulbs on the A811 and various green corners last year for a colourful spring.
Good news!  The SC budget for roads maintenance for the next 5 years has been boosted by additional funds and works are ongoing around Arnprior and other areas.  The views of the Area Forum have made a difference.  You will have noticed recent surfacing works on the A811 and the Fintry Road.  Nevertheless, we should all keep watch on our local roads and report problems when we see them.

Woodstone Road is closed to vehicles between Jennywoodston Farm and the junction with the Mains Road.  This Temporary Closure Order is to facilitate repairs to the existing arch bridge over Arnprior burn - a period from 17 March 2008 to 28 February 2009 has been stipulated.  The route is still open for walkers, cyclists and riders but take care near the partially collapsed structure.

Adopt a bench
A very loose arrangement between residents for routine maintance of the growth around our benches and any treatments that seem appropriate. The daffodils were great - now for the boring cutting back of vegetation. Two recent bench treatments/ renovations deserve a special mention, next to bus shelter and up near Lintmiln. Well done!
Our small stone arch bridges are at risk from plastic replacements. Does this matter? If you have any views contact a community councillor.
Take care in winter weather
