Roads and village
Maintenance of roads and bridges
Road safety
General amenity
Speeding and overtaking through the village is always a concern. There is a limit to what road markings can do but the
A811 is monitored on a more regular basis to make drivers more aware of road safety.
Safety cameras are used
on this route at key locations and they are making a difference. Use the link to find out more.
Stirling Council cut the road verges outside the village by machine and other grass areas in the village are strimmed and mown by hand. Bedding plants are added to the raised bed next to The Street every year. Daffodils appear by magic along the A811 in the spring.
Watch out for damage to road surfaces all year round. Harsh winters can make matters worse. More funding is being
spent on road maintenance but there is still a big backlog. Potholes and ponds can appear at any time so
report problems when
you see them.
Woodstone Road is a public road but is not suitable for HGVs. The new bridge over the Arnprior Burn at the top of the Glen looks the part and the road has been resurfaced around Jennywoodstone. The road is narrow and there are tight bends - don't believe what the sat-nav tells you!
Quiet roads
Adopt a bench
A very loose arrangement between residents for routine maintance of the growth around our benches and any treatments that seem appropriate. Two bench renovations from last year deserve a special mention - next to the bus shelter and up near Lintmiln. You've set the standard!

Paths
Arnprior has four
core paths. Find them on plans F09 and G09 and use the other maps to see how they connect with neighbouring
parts of the network. Not all of these paths can be negotiated without a bit of fence hurdling or avoiding tactics.
The lower field path between the garage and the Arngibbon turn on the west side of the village should be maintained by Stirling Council
and should be clear down from the old schoolhouse to opposite Wester Merkland. Discussions are underway with local path groups
to find the best way of working with SC to help improve and maintain the network.
Firstbus operate our local bus service and there are two stops in each direction. Unfortunately the timetables that Firstbus publish on their website do not include Arnprior (its between Buchlyvie and Kippen by the way). You will have to adjust the time yourself i.e. add 5 minutes from the last village. Use the link below to go straight to the timetables - both directions are shown on each page.
Opportunities
BT want to close down the red public telephone in the village but transfer ownership of the box to ACC for £1 to use as we wish. Any views on this? According to BT there were 59 calls from the box last year.
Road improvements
ACC has been sent details of the proposed improvement to the bend on the A811 near Garden. The scheme will go ahead when funds are allocated.
ACC still has copies of a village postcard (top) and a note card with a view. These are for sale - just contact a community councillor for more details.
